Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these: 10 months to be precise. That’s a long old time, but time which has been full to the brim with essays, final year stress and, more recently, catching up on all the sleep I’ve missed out on over the last three years.
My degree was an experience to say the least. I think I’ve learnt as much about myself as I have the process of language acquisition, sociolinguistic variation and the English grammatical system . It’s been interesting, don’t get me wrong, and I’ve made some great friends along the way, but I am glad to see the end of this stressful chapter of my life and say goodbye and good riddance to the IPA (if you know, you know).
I’m so excited for all the changes happening right now: staying in Cardiff for the summer, moving into a new house and job hunting. After years of slaving over books, essays and exams, I’m really looking forward to doing some hands on, practical work. Having free time and the freedom to read books – real books – is amazing and something I have really missed. I can now fully dedicate time to learning Italian (sorry to Sal that it’s taken so long) and might even start baking again – just because I can (wild, I know).
Hopefully this means I’ll be more inspired to keep this blog up and running. Now that really would be impressive.
We’ll see; for now I’m just looking forward to all the possibilities which lay in front of me.
Thanks for catching up with me in this brief post. Keep your eye out for the next one! In the meantime, why not head to my homepage and read some of my older posts?
