Well, hello! It’s been more than a little while since I’ve written on here and in the spirit of the New Year and reflecting on the last 12 months, I felt this was the perfect time!

2018 has been a rollercoaster – a cliché, I know – the last 4 months in particular have been a whirlwind in the best kind of way. I’ve been interning as the Editorial Assistant at Style of the City magazine which has allowed me to experience an incredible host of things. Creating content has played a big part and has allowed me to write about some really cool things, here are a few of my faves:

• Reviewing books including Michelle Obama’s ‘Becoming’ and ‘Feminists Don’t Wear Pink’, compiled by Scarlet Curtis which got me a reply on Twitter!
• Talking about the big things: babies, marriage and internet trolling
• The wonderful stay at the St Michaels Resort in Falmouth.
• And did I mention interviewing a Michelin Star chef? Page 69 in Issue 7 of Style of the City.

I’ve worked with some incredibly strong women, who have made this experience all the more enlightening and empowering. This position has really brought me out of myself, allowing me to grow in confidence both in my writing, my strong work ethic and has really opened my eyes to the world of business, publishing and the media.

Ending the year on a high, I’m proud to look back at all the things I’ve accomplished both in my personal, academic and professional life. Despite the challenges – and where would the fun be without a challenge or two? – 2018 was full of achievements and amazing memories: getting engaged, graduating from uni with a First Class Honours Degree, exploring the world a little more, moving into a new flat alongside my fiancé (!!!), eating lots of delicious food, laughing into delirium with friends and family and of course, working hard for success and satisfaction, like there’s no tomorrow.

Thank you 2018 for making me stronger, happier, more confident and for giving me a bit more backbone to stand up for what I believe in, to take on new challenges and to persevere. I’ve learnt more about myself and I am proud of who I am becoming – shout out to Michelle for this lovely turn of phrase. 2019 has a lot to live up to, but I’m confident it will be just as good, if not better!
